Sustainability

Natural Fabrics

We at Uniform Apparel believe that natural fabrics, if produced consciously, are the best types of fabrics for garments. They use the least amount of fossil fuels and toxic chemicals to create and are the most comfortable and breathable fabrics for clothing. They are also easily biodegradable and can be recycled.

Minimal Design

One of the easiest ways to make your wardrobe more sustainable is to fill it with pieces that are not only high-quality and long lasting but also that can work in every season and stay fashionable as trends come and go. With fast fashion brands dropping up to 24 collections a year it’s easy to get lost in trying to stay up with the trends and end up with a wardrobe that’s quickly out of date.  We favor a minimal design released in capsules and not seasonal collections so our garments can be a go-to piece in any outfit regardless of season for years to come.

Small Orders

One of the fashion industry’s major issues is waste; annually the industry produces about 192 million tons of textile waste. With such large quantities of garments being produced in fast fashion, a lot of product never even reaches a shelf and is later burned or sent to landfills  By doing our orders in small quantities we can better ensure that every garment we produce is consumed, limiting our waste.

Moving Forward

At Uniform Apparel we acknowledge there is always room to improve and we want to do just that.

Here are our goals for 2021:

  • Source organic fabrics made with sustainable practices
  • Source banana fiber fabric from agricultural waste
  • Expand transparency in our production process
  • Expand clothing line to include mens and babies basics
  • Increase education on sustainability in fashion we bring to our community

And for 2025:

  • Total transparency from fiber to garment production
  • Regenerative agricultural cotton fiber farming
  • Expand product line to include fibers like natural wool, linen, and hemp
  • Reduce our waste as a company and share an environmental footprint
